Kevlar Training To Make Athletes Bullet Proof!

During the Olympics in London, Warren Olney asks Robert Forster about Kevlar Training the athletes!  The relevant section starts 3mins into the radio interview. He talks about infrstraucture building for the human body, toughening the joints, creating stability at every joint, what they call Kevlar Training so it makes the athletes bullet proof, so they dont breakdown on the track.

Robert Forster of Santa Monica is a physical therapist on Bob Kersee’s team, and has been to five Olympiads. He is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Phase IV Scientific Health and Performance Center in Santa Monica California specializing in rehabilitation and health and fitness programs for athletes and the general public.  He has treated and trained some of the world’s best athletes including Jackie Joyner Kersee, Kobe Bryant, and Pete Sampras.

Robert Forster has teamed with Herbalife to create a fitness program using the very science that has made Robert so successful. His 30 years experience are now available on a set of 12 DVDS called 24Fit.

25 Reasons To Exercise

We can lump exercise into three broad categories: strength training (weightlifting, core training), cardiovascular conditioning (running, cycling, aerobics), and flexibility training (yoga, stretching). As an athlete, you probably participate in all three. Let’s look at the specific ways in which each promotes optimal health and function:

Flexibility Training24-fit-workout-program-jpeg

  1. Improves range of motion
  2. Reduces risk of injury
  3. Reduces post-workout soreness
  4. Improves posture
  5. Improves circulation to muscles
  6. Enhances neuro-muscular coordination
  7. Improves balance

Cardiovascular Conditioning

  1. Increases oxygen intake
  2. Increases the body’s oxygen use efficiency
  3. Increases cardiac output and efficiency
  4. Increases blood volume
  5. Improves stamina
  6. Improves lung health and capacity
  7. Reduces blood pressure and lowers resting heart rate
  8. Improves cholesterol ratio (HDL/LDL)
  9. Increases insulin sensitivity
  10. Improves circulation to active muscles
  11.  Decreases symptoms of anxiety and depression

Strength Training

  1. Maintains strength and power
  2. Increases lean body mass
  3. Greater core strength prevents back problems
  4. Boosts metabolic rate by up to 15%, aiding in weight control
  5. Prevents osteoporosis
  6. Increases ligament tensile strength
  7. Increases tendon tensile strength

The 24 Fit Programme developed by Robert Forster, includes the above 3 elements.

The Benefits Of Periodization Training

Robert Forster, CEO & Founder of Phase IV and Forster Physical Therapy has teamed with Herbalife to create a fitness program called Herbalife 24Fit.  Tired of encountering ill-advised training programs that only cause more injury, Robert created a new approach to physical therapy, which is divided into phases that follow the body’s natural healing and growth patterns. His practice in Santa Monica, California, provides athletes with effective, scientific and injury-free solutions for health and performance.

The 24fit program uses the very science that has made Robert so successful. This includes periodization training principles which recognises that all exercise is much less effective if rest and recovery periods are not provided.

“Recovery should be so well understood and actively enhanced that it becomes a significant component in training” – Tudor Bompa, Father of modern periodization theories.

Have you ever thought about why for over three decades the Russians were dominating almost every sport? The answer is something called ‘Periodization’. In the early 1960’s, Tudor Bompa, who is considered the ‘Father of Modern Periodization’, influenced the way Russian sports scientists approached training. Although Russian sports scientists had tried dividing the training year into different periods in the 1940’s, it wasn’t until Tudor Bompa’s revisions in the 1960’s that people really started seeing results. Perodization was a method that included phases of training that promoted rest.
